Based in North-Berwick, East Lothian, Forth Resource Management, is an organic material composting business.  Operating in the waste management sector the company specializes in providing waste disposal services and creating environmentally sound services and products from this waste including compost, mulch and topsoil.  Forth Resource Management registered on the Public Contracts Scotland (PCS) website in the middle of this year and already holds a number of contracts with the public sector, most recently East Lothian Council.

Tendering for public sector contract opportunities was something Forth Resource Management had experience of and success with prior to registering on the PCS site. It was one of their clients, Edinburgh City Council, which first brought the PCS site to their attention. Using the PCS site will make it much more efficient for Forth Resource Management to identify many more opportunities in the public sector right across Scotland.

John Donaldson, project manager at Forth Resource Management said; “As a new user to the PCS site we found registering with PCS was very straightforward, the site providing clear guidance and instruction. We have worked hard to build relationships with appropriate partners in the public sector.  However, we hope using the PCS site will introduce us to partners right across Scotland and provide us with contract opportunities we might otherwise not identify.”

He continued; “Prior to registering with PCS we were forced to search a number of websites to review contract opportunities in the public sector.   Very often the website levied a fee for doing this – even if we then discovered nothing appropriate to our line of business was currently being advertised.  The PCS site is free and gives us instant access to all the available opportunities – both large and small. It should help us cut costs in our new business drives.”

Forth Resource Management is one of a very few companies in Scotland whose compost has gained Composting Association accreditation.  This ensures that their peat-free organic compost is of BSI PAS 100 standard.
