City of Glasgow College – Riverside Campus

The City of Glasgow College is re-developing its Estate, bringing together what is currently 11 buildings into two new campus developments on Cathedral Street and on Thistle Street on the River Clyde. GLQ are the consortium building The City of Glasgow Colleges new campus buildings and Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd are the construction contractor.

The Riverside Campus on Thistle Street on the River Clyde comprises of a 14,693m2 'BREEAM excellent' projected rating 7 storey teaching facility and engineering block catering for the curriculum areas of Engineering, Energy & Science, and Nautical Studies. Located also on Campus will be a 10 storey 180 bedroom halls of residence building positioned on the Clyde riverside. The campus will be integrated with and complement the existing marine skills centre facility.

The construction works will take place over 2 distinct phase. Phase 1 begins with the Demolition of the Hall of Residences and Recreational building and the construction of the new Riverside City campus. On completion of the new campus Phase 2 will be the demolition of the existing Tower and Workshop and final landscaping of the remaining area. The timescales for both these phases are, Phase 1 Completion - Aug 2015, Phase 2 Completion - Oct 2016.
