City of Glasgow College – City Campus

The City of Glasgow College is re-developing its Estate, bringing together what is currently 11 buildings into two new campus developments on Cathedral Street and on Thistle Street on the River Clyde. GLQ are the consortium building The City of Glasgow Colleges new campus buildings and Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd are the construction contractor.

The City Campus on Cathedral Street comprises of a 10 storey 56,096m2 'BREEAM Excellent' teaching facility catering for curriculum areas of Construction & the Built Environment, Art & Design, Creative Industries, Community Care & Social Science, Business & Enterprise, Computing, Food, Hospitality & Tourism, Sport, Languages & ESOL, Hair & Beauty and Specialist Teaching.

The proposed construction of the new City of Glasgow College will take place over 2 phases; phase 1 being the construction of the new Campus Building which is where the Allan Glen's and Business Learning Zone buildings currently sit, and phase 2, the demolition of the existing Townhead Building and landscaping of this area. The timescales for both these phases are Phase 1 finish date - 15th August 2016, Phase 2 finish date 14th August 2017.
